Still on this huge watercolor trip, and really enjoying filling my diary with these things. This one is like a lot of cityscapes I do, it's inspired by a dystopian idea of the world. Again, like all of the others I have done this week I did this one in under 1 hour. This has really brought a breath of fresh air to my work, as i usually spend a lot longer than that . . .a lot longer.

Some more late night painting, this time done in under half an hour . . .lots of fun.

I did these ink doodlings as a way of relaxing right before bed . . .I think they are somewhat interesting, not really meant for sale/exhibition, but who knows? I just really enjoyed making a bit of a mess in my diary.

Ink
...and below is my studio assistant, though he doesn't seem to provide much actual assistance.

An idea in early stages of development. Too tired to add more words . . .I think i like this a lot? Just realized it's not as balanced as I wanted, I think the wavey arm things need to either be mirrored or more . . .something, on right track though. Bed.

EDIT: a few days to reflect upon idea . . .abandon ship! I think the colors are decent, but overall it just doesn't work for me, i guess thats what this blog is all about.

Still working on some ideas that are super super dark in tone. This one is just another experiment, and I have a feeling it will stay an experiment. If you monitor is crap or just really dark it is likely that you wont see anything.

This stuff I did today, because I was motivated to do so, or more compelled. I had had a clear vision this morning of a really really dark piece, and by dark I mean literally the lack of light, it's sort of difficult to explain in words but I could clearly see an image of a moth/butterfly sitting on top of skull . . .this is where it gets frustrating for me because the picture ends up being 'metal'. It was not really intended that way. I am going to stop talking now. The last pic is the finished piece, and the others are details.

These designs I did last night, or rather . . .early this morning. I think they turned out fairly well. I had previously explored about 3 different versions. The idea came to me that instead of a carefully rendered tree, I should go with something in Ink (with loads of water). It felt good to let go a little bit, and loosen up my technique.

The first thing . . .well I'm really not sure where the hell it is going and what it even is. Its a video experiment, that I thought looked somewhat interesting. it sort of came from an idea I had had of a figure sort of lurking around in the darkness, but if taken from video stills the images would not make any sense, and I sort of like this.

The second is another video still that has been fiddled with a lot, and I sort of like the simplicity of it . . .again, just a 'sketch'.

These design were used for The Beautiful Bivalve's self titled E.P, and were a lot of fun to make. It was a long process, but after lots of different versions, I think it worked out well. Of course, hindsight is a powerful thing, and there are always things you might do differently . . .but in the end I'm happy with my first C.D cover. I have also included a poster.

Some things I have been working on.

The First is a mixed media piece, this was intended for a CD cover, but is now just mine. I think I will take this concept somewhere else, as I really enjoyed creating this thing.

The second piece happened completely by accident, just messing around in the backyard with a point and shoot digital camera, and a piece of red plastic in front of the lense. I took it into photoshop and made it blue. It is now likely to end up on a CD cover for a band . . .in the not too distant future.

This is the original untouched photo.
