New piece titled 'I can't see a thing in here' based on...well just something floating around in my head. I think I had seen a movie preview with a highway overpass in it, which just happened to collide with some ideas I had about 'noise' (visual/aural) in the world. Sketches below, ended up in the final piece at the top. Yes, some Photoshop was used to enhance/augment the final piece, but in the end....does it really matter how you achieve a final image?.

Getting somewhere tonight after feeling completely deflated. Must have faith that ideas come and go, and that I just need to let things flow . . .don't ever force anything.

It's funny what you find on your digital camera's memory card. These images are taken from a video I made. I think capturing images from video gives everything an interesting quality, one which is pretty hard to repeat.

Drinking James Squire I.P.A, baking cookies, hanging with my GF . . .and some late night sketches.

I am really just going back to the same thing here . . .but I think this works. Maybe.

I did these today, they are basically just scribbles. I wanted to draw something loose and free that starts with a scribble, but then give them the inference of perspective and form.

A drawing I started today . . still needs lots of work

EDIT: Top version is the finished one.

This piece is entitled 'Aghartha - affected self portrait 2'

A work doodle . . .I was in a serious, very serious state of supreme boredom today. It was as if time itself has slowed down to a crawl. urgh. This is a little Sci-Fi idea that I would like to take further, m a y b e. The second image is in keeping with my current blah to try inverting all ink drawings . . its addictive! The third image is the doodle I did in my diary months and months ago. I was talking to a lot of people on the phone today, and one of these people was a 90-95 year old man that sounded bright and cheery, and laughed when I asked for a younger age group. Wouldn't it be amazing to still be alive at 90 years old, and be able to laugh? I know a lot of people who have said 'Kill me after I turn 65 or 70', but I would love to stay alive as long as a possibly can. I will stop crapping on now.

This picture (above) is titled 'Into Warmer Air - Affected Self Portrait'.

I did this, because this image was sort of floating around in my head for weeks. It just needed to get done. The other side of the coin is below, a self portrait I did ages ago, and found in my dairy . . .I think they looks coo,, if not a little strange.

I'm in a bit of a mood . . .so I'm just going to go ahead and post a bunch of older painting/drawings/ and other things by me. I am thinking maybe the name of my blog should be 'Is This Thing On?' as I think I look at this thing more than anyone else. Bleh. All of these artworks are by me, either they were done in the last 3-4 months . . .or about 2 years ago, though it's hard to keep track . . .maybe my memory is fading?

The bottom three paintings are from a period in 2006 when I was doing these huge oil paintings. I think they are ok, but I think what is interesting about them now (with the power of hindsight) is that there are some perspective issues, and this happened because I was painting them in a really tiny studio space. Again, I still find something interesting about them . . . despite the perspective issues.

Is This Thing On?

Something new from this morning.
EDIT (8/7) Inverted the colors, and it looks interesting as well.
New Music to digest while drawing: new ISIS, New Sunn o))), Fennesz (every album), James Blackshaw . . .

An old piece, from 2006. Mixed media on MDF board.

Part one of yet ANOTHER watercolor painting in my sketch book. I think the constraints of working in such a small area have their benefits.

I did this today during work, and I sort of like it. The idea was that I literally would do a 'Mr Squiggle' and scribble all over the page until something came out of it. I draw so many trees it's a wonder I don't draw them in my sleep. This will likely evolve into something else.

Spaceman.

Another one, which I might actually fix up . . .or not.
I am now starting to think maybe i am doing too many things, and might need to focus on one idea for longer than just 30 minutes to an hour. Had a pretty inspiring sort of productive day today . . .involving good conversations, and a not too bad night at work.
