I suppose sketch books are somewhat of a private thing, as I usually write a lot of crap in them that doesn't really need to be seen by people. Sometimes interesting things come up, like in the case of the stone hand drawing which I remember doing almost autonomously and it just kind of popped out the way you see it. The other things I threw in here are mostly a result of being inspired by animation like Adventure Time and Ren and Stimpy or just the absurdity of life. I thought these drawings were of value and worth sharing, so there they are. The blank left hand page is something I seem to do at the start of a new book (I tend to fill at very minimum one book per year)and to accentuate the space in the drawings. I don't spend very long on each page and sometimes these things are started and finished on public transport.

This is an image for the Positive Posters competition I picked this issue because it still blows my mind that so much oil could be spilled into the ocean. The image also reminded me of the scene in the Simpsons movie where homer launches the container of pig shit into the lake.

Here is the final version of that fish, the one I ended up showing about 5068483 people. I also threw in a little landscape I did this evening...for no other reason other than having the urge to paint something. The idea that popped into my head was that of a tree that looked like it might actually fall over.

Have not updated here in over a month because I have been incredibly busy with study. One of the things I am doing is doing a couple of illustrations for book covers, which is a lot of fun for me and something I have always wanted to do. There has also been a few bits of artwork for the Roussemoff guys, one of which will end up being an LP cover. The other was a quick poster which turned out fairly well, and looks great all printed up. There have also been some roussemoff video and photo sessions, which have been amazing...because I just invested in the Canon 24-105l lens.

Bought a lovely new drawing diary, and drew this at around 2am this morning, fun little exercise.

Helping the roussemoff guys organize some merch for the launch on Tuesday night, so the idea came about of actually selling some homemade preserves. This stuff is awesome. Also the roussemoff business cards came out rather well.

A small video piece I put together this morning for the Roussemoff guys.

Filming/recording session for the Roussemoff guys today. The shoot went so amazingly well, that the footage itself needs very few corrections...it just looks really good. Also on the agenda was getting the Toff launch poster out of the way. I am fairly pleased with the results, just a few small issues i'm not so sure of. I was going for more of a focus on type, rather than any color or flashy graphic. The bird in the background is a vectored misprint of one of the sleeves, which is what the launch is all about...the beautiful handmade CD's from a while back.I have included a few stills from the shoot.

Very busy (supposed to be) working on some homework, but I am also working on a cool little video project as well. This thing was inspired by a track a friend of mine made, which is really really amazing. The song made me think of long car rides. It was interesting to try to film a bunch of stuff in the car and keep it somewhat steady.

Working on some designs for The Gracemakers again, and also planning to do a video for Roussemoff...all while trying to do Design homework. The Gracemakers stuff is for a quarter page ad for Inpress/Beat so it's going to be text based. It's also going to include a butterfly I drew about 3 years ago, all fixed up and vectored. I think the I am enjoying working on the little butterflies way too much.

I had this awful 70's orange colored landscape thing floating around in my head for a few days, so I fiddled about in Photoshop and Indesign to make it. I would love to turn something like this into a poster, and I sort of want it to look like a scan from National Geographic from 1975.

Working on some bits and pieces for Roussemoff again. This is a bit of a concept piece for a vinyl LP cover. I can see this going in several direction. I really dig the colors in this one, and the grain giving it a kind of 70's feel. We will see what happens with it, as these things can change quickly. I am studying design full time now so when I do something cool I will put it up. Also at the Roussemoff link (which you should grab the download of) are some web banners I shot of the handmade CD's from a while back.

First post in a while. I realized the last photos just had way too many filters applied to them which choked the feel. So here are a few more pictures of rocks and textures I took in New Zealand that have almost no filters on them. I have been doing a whole load of drawings as well which I will stick up here when I find the time. I just started studying design so it looks like it will be a hugely productive year.
